ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – 2018 didn't pan out like the Lobo baseball program thought it might.

New Mexico will miss out on the Mountain West Tournament for the first time since head coach Ray Birmingham took the helm 11 years ago. Despite that, the Lobos had a chance to end the year on a high note in the season finale with UC Davis.

Connor Mang notched his 27th RBI of the year in the bottom of the first to put New Mexico on the board. An inning later the Aggies took the lead back, 2-1, but Lobo starter and Eldorado graduate Nathaniel Gray prevented any further damage.

Gray went six innings and gave up three runs in New Mexico's final game of the year, and the Lobo offense took care of the rest as they won 8-4.

After consecutive victories and a series win, the Lobos finished the 2018 campaign with an overall record of 20-33-1.
