ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Seeking its first series win of the season, the New Mexico softball team called on pitcher Marissa Bethke to try and capitalize off an 8-5 Saturday win over the visiting Utah State Aggies.

But the Aggies jumped on Bethke in the second inning, scoring three runs off her as opposing pitcher Kellie White only allowed one run in a complete game performance.

New Mexico's lone run came off the bat of Kristyn Whitley, whose single up the middle in the second scored Andrea Howard. Aggie Devan Sperry, meanwhile, had a big night at the plate for Utah State (16-27), going 2-for-2 with a pair walks while driving in two runs. She also scored twice herself.

The Lobos next travel to Tucson to face Arizona in a single-game matchup Wednesday.
