San Diego State was picked to win the MW in a preseason poll even though it received fewer first-place votes than San Jose State. The Lobos were picked to finish fifth.

It's a 12-team league with Colorado College joining the mix. The Lobos open the season on August 14 against CSU Pueblo.

"Currently we have three seniors and three juniors, and the rest of our team is sophomores and freshmen," said head coach Heather Dyche. "A few redshirt years in there, but it's been really fun to see different personalities come out and more players taking a leadership role and being more impactful on the field. Whereas I think last year they rode the coattails of some of the seniors, now they can't."
