Lobos, Aggies ready to renew rivalry

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Lobos are spending the week preparing for the New Mexico State Aggies.

Both teams are coming off big losses.

The Lobos lost starting quarterback Tevaka Tuioti in the first quarter of last week’s game against Wisconsin.

Backup quarterback Coltin Gerhart is also injured, so Sheriron Jones will get the start.

Coach Bob Davie says the game plan is much like it was last week.

“It will be a heck of a game, a heck of a challenge, a great opportunity to go down there and again. Just like we stood here last week, getting better individually, getting better individually and then it will be collectively as a team,” Davie said.

The Aggies are still looking for their first win of the season.

“This is the biggest game of the year. It's the in-state rivalry. They have a lot of in-state players just like we do, who played against each other in high school,” said NMSU head coach Doug Martin. “You always want to win this game and we have won it the last two years and we are proud of that.”

Kickoff for Saturday’s game is set for 6 p.m.
