ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico men's basketball team put a bow on head coach Paul Weir's first season at the helm as he began to switch his focus to next season.

The Lobos finished the year with a 19-15 record and were one win away from the NCAA Tournament before losing to San Diego State in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Weir says the next step is to go from a solid season to an outstanding season.

"To go from bad to good, (it) takes a certain amount of things. To go from good to great takes a lot more, and I know that and our team is about to know that," he said. "We made some real positive steps, but to those final few steps to get to where you want to get to are really challenging."
