Even though UNM didn't capture the Mountain West title Saturday night, the Lobos did make an appearance in the championship game for the first time since 2014 and finished the season with a 19-15 record after a 3-8 start.

As the team returned to Albuquerque on Sunday, Weir touched on his first year at the helm of the program.

"Right now, the pain of defeat and getting all the way to the end and losing…it's tough," he said. "It's tough for a lot of us, but I think as time goes on and we reflect on our season and where we came from, hopefully we'll be able to look back and say it was a really good season, and it was. I don't want to underestimate that."
