Six different players have led the team in scoring this year.

Madi Washington is the latest top scorer for the Lobos.

The sophomore had 15 points against Colorado State.

“I think it’s very important the everybody knows what their role is and be very good at it, so if coming off the bench is what the team needs of me, then that’s what I’m going to do my best at,” Washington said.

As a freshman, Washington played in 34 games, averaging six points per game.

“I feel much more comfortable, especially on the defensive end,” Washington said. “I remember getting lost all the time.”

Washington came to New Mexico from Red Oak, Texas, a town just outside of Dallas.

She’s one of five Lobos from Texas who loves to push the tempo.

“We play fast. We typically get up and down really well,” Washington said. “I think that’s why Mike’s favorite place is to recruit out of Texas and that’s why he has five of us here.”
