NMSU to face off against Illinois, honor Lou Henson

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State men's basketball squad is in Chicago this weekend as they get ready to play Illinois.

But before the two teams tip off, they will honor Lou Henson – the man who led both programs to the Final Four during his coaching career. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Henson will be able to attend the game, according to reports which state he is in the hospital dealing with complications from leukemia.

"He was a legend to me, and I'll never forget meeting him at IHOP for breakfast my first week on the job," said NMSU head coach Chris Jans. "Ever since then he's been calling me every week or two, and touching base with me on how the season is going and asking me about the recruits."
