Notah Begay helps raise $218K for charities

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Notah Begay made a few local charities pretty happy.

The four-time PGA Tour winner helped raise $218,000 for non-profits that work on behalf of New Mexico's children. The money comes from the New Mexico Grand Slam golf event.

All Faiths Children's Advocacy Center, Children's Learning Center and New Mexico Friends of Foster Children each received a check for $20,000.

"All we're trying to do is open doors for kids, and sometimes it's as simple as for a foster kid giving him a chance to have a positive experience that they can build on to offset a lot of the negative that's going on in their lives."
