ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Despite cutting four sports programs Thursday, UNM still has an abundance of student-athletes.

KOB compared UNM with two schools in the Mountain West Conference that have similar enrollment numbers.

Fresno State and Colorado State University do not have a men’s soccer teams, a skiing program or beach volleyball.

In fact, UNM has more sports programs than both universities.

However, KOB’s Lee Faria says other universities may look to capitalize off the loss of programs at UNM. He says other college programs will look to cherry pick the most talented athletes, especially in soccer.  If a student chooses to transfer, they will not have to sit out a year before they can play at their new school.
