ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – If you want to take a peek at the New Mexico men's basketball team a few weeks before its season tips off, the Cherry and Silver Scrimmage is set for Friday at Dreamstyle Arena.

The Lobos will also have a scrimmage next week before opening the regular season on Nov. 6 against Cal-State Northridge. Nevada was picked to win the Mountain West Conference, but New Mexico's team has a unifying goal—to take home the big trophy and get to the Big Dance.

"We all want a Mountain West Championship and (to) go to the NCAA Tournament. I have never been and it's always been a dream of mine," said senior guard/forward Dane Kuiper. "It's the ultimate goal, but there is a lot of little steps that go into that."

Fellow senior and teammate Anthony Mathis echoed the sentiment, saying the team chemistry is as strong as it has been up to this point.

"I don't know a lot about this team, but I'll figure it out when we go through games and the atmosphere and the adversity," the Lobo guard said. "But I do know that everybody has bought in. We have been through a lot this summer, and everybody is still here, so they have bought in to this point."
