ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- The UNM women's soccer team is at Air Force on Friday, and Lobo senior Emily Chavez is putting together a Cal Ripken-like streak.

Chavez has started 70 straight games at UNM. With 44 more minutes, she will reach the top 10 in UNM history for minutes played.

"The way that our coaches go about training, go about recovery, it really makes it possible for us to play in those big amounts of minutes," she said.

"When she's not training, she's smart about taking care of her body," added head coach Heather Dyche. "With all that avoiding injuries she has, it shows you the strength of our training program."
