ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The UNM men’s soccer team is waiting to learn if their program will be cut.

The UNM Board of Regents will meet next week to discuss the budget shortfall.

Despite promising past seasons, men’s soccer is among the programs that may end up being eliminated.

UNM men’s head soccer coach Jeremy Fishbein says cutting the program would have a negative impact on the community.

"Pulling an opportunity away from kids and that's what people need to realize is the exposure kids from our state had received as a result of these camps and coming to our games and just name recognition it would affect a lot of people," Fishbein said.

The UNM Board of Regents meet July 19.
