ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Jaedyn De La Cerda spent her first year with the Lobos Women’s Basketball team primarily watching from the bench.

She remained patient, waiting for her chance to contribute.

Her perseverance has paid off. De La Cerda’s sophomore stats have already surpassed her freshmen year’s numbers.

The former Roswell Coyote led the Lobos with a career-high, 21 points on Saturday against the Aggies.

"Not playing last year was kind of like I would watch them back on the court and stuff and we would play and I would just try to take what they do on the court to like practice so then I could get better this year it's like when I'm on the court and stuff I learned from that instead of watching other people," she said.

The Lobos tip off against Sacramento State at the Lobo Invitational Wednesday at 7 p.m.
