The New Mexico Lobos men's basketball coaches are looking for help next season and beyond.

The focus is the back court.

Paul Weir is concerned with his play at the point guard position. He also thinking about who will fill the roles of sharp shooters Anthony Mathis and Dane Kuiper when they graduate next Spring.

Weir says he’s confident that he can recruit against every team in the Mountain West Conference.

“We were able to beat some teams in our league that 9-months ago we couldn't even go into the same living room as. But we were able to beat some pretty good teams in our league and we end up recruiting the same players.” Weir said. “That was really big for us to get some key wins over some rivals and some schools that would have been really hard to beat when I first got here.”

The Lobos made an offer to high schooler Chris Payton.

He is a 6'7" power forward from Bloomington, Illinois. He averaged almost 21-points a game last season

He made a verbal commitment to Illinois State but then de-committed.

The lobos are up against Illinois and Valparaiso.
