8 arrested in operation targeting violent crime in Carlsbad

EDDY COUNTY, N.M. — An operation Wednesday between federal and local agencies has led to the seizure of a large cache of narcotics and illegal firearms, along with eight arrests.
The Eddy County Sheriff’s Office stated in a press release the one-day operation, which focused on rooting out violent crime in Carlsbad.
Those arrested were: Manuel Montoya, 41; Sam Chavez. 34; Daniella Samaniego, 28; Freddie Trevino, 20; Jorge Torres, 34; Lupe Contreras, 43; Ronnie Wabbington, 22; and Timothy Ziegler, 41.
In addition to the arrests, two firearms, 20 grams of fentanyl, 93 grams of methamphetamine and 11 grams of heroin were seized. During the operation, a total of 25 traffic stops were also conducted, resulting in 22 citations.
