ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- The search for a UNM men’s basketball coach is heating up.

Richard Pitino is expected to be a candidate for the position.

He parted way with Minnesota after a 14-15 season. The team did not win a road game this year.

However, as head coach, Pitino led the Gophers to the NCAA Tournament in 2017 and 2019.

Pitino has also served as head coach at Florida International.

He is the son of Hall of Fame coach Rick Pitino.
