ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- The Albuquerque Senior Softball League is recruiting for multiple positions after being off the field because of the pandemic.

President and Treasurer of Albuquerque Senior Softball, Steve Holliday, is recruiting anyone 50 years old and up to play and fill management positions.

"We have 10 teams currently this year. We had 12 in 2019. We’re always looking for help,” he said. "The biggest thing is you got families and friends here. Everybody becomes a friend, whether they’re on your team or on another team."

The league is looking for anyone with a passion for the game.

"We have no problems. We don’t have any arguments. We don’t have any hassles. This is a lot of fun,” said Ed ‘Fast Eddie’ Alexis, team manager.

The league started its 2021 season a few weeks late but still have 36 games scheduled through October.

“It feels awesome to be back in the field with them,” said Coach Phil Gonzales. "It was tough, and then not playing with all my buddies was what made it worse, not seeing everybody. This is the first time we’re seeing everybody."

The teams play every Tuesday and Thursday morning.

"You only get old once. You might as well enjoy it,” said Fast Eddie.

Anyone who would like to join can call Holliday at (505) 228-8126 for more details.
