Connie Mack World Series baseball tournament to return this summer
FARMINGTON, N.M.—Since 1965, Ricketts Park has been home base to the Connie Mack World Series baseball tournament in Farmington. However, last year there were no cheering fans or home runs due to COVID-19.
"We had to prioritize things, but it was very sad to see something so precious for myself and this community be put on pause," said Tyson Snyder, CMWS Chairman.
Snyder said the Connie Mack World Series should return in full swing this July.
Players will arrive on July 21. Pool Play will take place on July 23 and July 24 to determine the championship bracket, which will begin July 25 and wrap up July 31.
“We were happy to see that we did receive some guidance from the state, so right now current mandates and regulations state that we operate an outdoor facility at 75% capacity," Snyder said.
Tournament committee members are still working on the ins and outs of the event. One thing they know for certain is that Ricketts Park will look a little different.
“What we did is that we put in some nice comfortable seats with more room, backrests. We have more handicap accessible seating. We have box seats available that are right up to the field. It’s kind of the final chapter of the seating renovation that we didn’t get to complete in 2020," Snyder added.
