ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- The Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad reopens in Chama Saturday.
"We have the full ride basically, so we have a 64-mile railroad between Antonito and Chama. We’re also offering some shorter offerings, so you can buy a ticket that is a slightly shorter trip, so you can day trip from Colorado Springs or day trip from Santa Fe or Albuquerque," said Stathi Pappas, chief mechanical officer for Cumbres and Toltec.
Engine 168 will also be in service again. The train, from the 1800s, had been sitting in a park.
"It’s a living history museum that instead of just having exhibit or displays where people can learn about the past, you can buy a ticket and experience the past," Pappas said.
