De Groot looking to add to her state track and field championship tally

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- Lola De Groot is one of the best jumpers in New Mexico.
She holds state records in the high jump and long jump.
After junior year was lost to the pandemic, it’s meant the world to her to have a senior season.
De Groot pushed herself through the months of uncertainty.
"During that time is when I felt really inspired to start going and start trying harder," she said.
The perseverance and home workouts paid off.
De Groot is happy to be back on the track and lay it all out there.
"I’m so excited. I’m so ready," she said.
De Groot is headed to Grand Canyon in the fall.
The state track and field meet begins Thursday at UNM.
