ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A few weeks ago, a COVID case on campus shut down Eldorado girl’s basketball. That left them with no room for error in their final week.

The Eagles went on to win three straight games to clinch the district title.

Now the team is back in the state tournament for the first time since 2019.

The Eagles will play Centennial High School in the quarterfinals Tuesday night.

"The year before they had zero district wins," said coach Leroy Barela. "Last year, my first year, we were able to break through and get one win and now to come in and go 6-2 and become district champs in just our second year speaks volumes to the girls and to the coach and my assistants."
