RIO RANCHO, N.M. — Members of law enforcement support group Ten 82 presented fallen Santa Fe officer Robert Duran‘s family with a $15,000 check, representing hundreds of donations from the community.

Duran’s wife and two sons told KOB 4 they are overwhelmed with the outpouring of support from the community. The check will help cover expenses as they continue to grieve.

Duran served the Santa Fe community for nearly eight years. He joined the department in 2015 after several long and thorough discussions with his family. According to his wife, Duran joined the department to preserve a future for his children – and he loved his job as a police officer.

Ten 82 said they will be giving an identical check to Frank Lovato’s family.
