FARMINGTON, N.M.- Many would describe Clarissa John as hard-working and always willing to lend a hand.
She has served her community for the past six years as a volunteer firefighter for the San Juan County fire department. Now, she’s facing a new challenge.
“Clarissa has a sudden brain tumor and it came on within a week she was fine weekend before last and then on Monday she came down with a headache and that just kept progressing and then she started having speech difficulties” said Diana Reynolds, a family friend.
She was airlifted from Farmington to an Albuquerque hospital. With a possible surgery and a long recovery ahead of her, a GoFundMe page was created.
“We really are family and that’s not just San Juan County fire Department that’s the fire department across the country we are a strong tight- knit community and when one of us is down we lift each other up,” said Chief Jordan Renolds of the San Juan County Fire Department.
