LAS VEGAS, NV – The first in-person Mountain West Media Summit is hitting Las Vegas since the pandemic restrictions hit.

The Mountain West is focused on cultivating opportunities for student-athletes to compete at the highest level while fostering academic achievement and sportsmanship.

It was all about coaches on Wednesday, and it was UNM Head Coach Danny Gonzales’ first time attending with the Lobos.

“I mean I’m on a mission to paint the town cherry, and I’ll tell everybody, I mean it’s what we’re gonna do, we’re still in the marathon phase. If it’s not a marathon it’s a sprint. We are urging towards that sprint to a conference championship,” said Gonzales.

The Mountain West has a couple of new head coaches including Boise States’ Andy Avalos, and University of Nevada Las Vegas’ Marcus Arroyo.

“We get new challenges and there’s unbelievable people there that help us work through and find the best solutions for the greater good of Boise State,” said Avalos.
