ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- Richard Pitino is hard at work building the UNM men’s basketball program.

He has hired three assistant coaches, and he’s had the players in the weight room and on the floor.

Pitino has not said what position he wants a newcomer to play, but he said the new player will need a specific skillset to help the Lobos win next season.

"I think we averaged four threes made per game. That’s bad. That’s got to get better," Pitino said. "Shooting is a huge, huge part of the game."
