ROSWELL, N.M.- The Roswell Independent School District has a new superintendent.

After a lengthy executive session on Tuesday, the board voted for Goddard High School principal Mike Luck.

Luck, who is a GHS alum, said he’s humbled by the board’s decision, and ready to get to work. A top priority for him will be to reconnect with students after months of virtual learning.

“I really want to get those students back re-engaged in the system so that we can provide the resources that I know they need because I think that benefits not only them but it benefits our community as well” he said.

Mike Gottlieb, current superintendent said they’re hitting the ground running with the transition.

“We’re already working on that process, we’re looking at budgets were looking at staffing we’re looking at all those things toward the end of the year,” he said.

Gottlieb will step down on June 30. Luck’s reported annual salary will be $150,000 with a two-year contract.
