Suspect charged in Sunday night homicide in SW Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – A 29-year-old man was arrested and charged Monday for a Sunday night homicide in southwest Albuquerque.

Miguel Angel Gomez was arrested and booked in MDC for allegedly shooting and killing Jesse Castellano.

APD received a call shortly after 6 p.m. from a person who witnessed someone being pushed out of a vehicle after it appeared they had been shot at 60th Street SW and Churchill Road.

Officers arrived and found Castellano dead in the road at 60th Street. According to APD, Gomez was located shortly after the shooting and, upon investigating, they determined he shot Castellano.

Gomez was charged with an open count of first-degree murder and tampering with evidence.

Traffic at 60th and Churchill was shut down Sunday.
