ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Week three in fall practice for the University of New Mexico’s football kicked off.

Last year Tavian Combs played solid as a freshman, as a sophomore he’ll have more on his plate.

Combs is a hybrid of safety and linebacker, which has been a staple in Rocky Long’s defense for decades.

"Man it’s real fun, one to understand the concept of the defense, like she’s being in a spot that coach long, but you win it’s just a fun deal you just gotta make plays and play football,” said Combs.
