ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – UNM’s Athletic Director Eddie Nuñez was named the winner of the Mountain West Commissioner’s Award.

This marks the third time in history for the conference to select a winner for the award.

“Those other AD’s, (athletic directors) I trust them so to be able to bounce ideas off them during this time and even before then sometimes, we all don’t get recognized. This is an award that we all worked our tails off – every AD, every trainer, every student athlete, every coach – so for them to think I did a little bit more somehow, someway if that’s how they got to it, I’m really honored,” said Nunez.

The pandemic didn’t allow athletes to practice normally, but the University of New Mexico Lobos won six conference championships across different sports.
