ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of New Mexico Lobos will play a home football game for the first time since 2019.
The Lobos will play Houston Baptist on September 2nd.
Eddie Nunez, athletic director at UNM was forced to send his football team to Las Vegas for the entire season, and he said it was the football team that set the tone for the every other program on campus.
“Two sports that did it from two different ways and I talk about our football program, they went out there with the unknown, didn’t know how this was going to transpire, didn’t know if there were going to be positive cases. They followed the script, they followed the process, and at the end of the process they got better, they won two games, they left there with zero positives but that laid the foundation for the entire department,” said Nunez.
