ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- The UNM men’s basketball team is scheduled to return to the court Wednesday against Wyoming.
The game will be played at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs due to COVID-19 restrictions in New Mexico.
According to Head Coach Paul Weir, his team could not field enough scholarship players to take on San Diego State. They also were forced to call off the series against CSU because of COVID-19 contact tracing.
"I didn’t want to go forward without the blessing of the guys," Weir said. "The sacrifices these guys have made, (I) can’t even tell you what it’s like to live in a bubble and the sacrifices the guys that are still going have done to get to the point. To not have a positive test in February is exceptional."
