3 New Mexico schools receive ‘National Blue Ribbon’ honors

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The U.S. Department of Education recognized three schools in New Mexico for their efforts to close achievement gaps.

These three “National Blue Ribbon Schools” are described as “Exemplary High Performing Schools”and are as follows:

  • Monte Vista Elementary School in Albuquerque
  • Lydia Rippey Elementary School in Aztec
  • Lincoln Elementary School in Gallup

The department defines “Exemplary High Performing Schools” as being among one of the state’s highest-performing schools, as measured by state assessments or nationally normed tests.

The recognition is also based on each school’s overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among certain groups on assessments.
