3-year-old boy in critical condition following shooting

HOBBS, N.M. — Investigators with the Lea County Sheriff’s Office say a 3-year-old boy is in critical condition following a shooting in Hobbs.

Authorities said deputies were called to the 3000 block of E Stanolind Road Friday. They discovered a 3-year-old boy who had sustained a single gunshot wound.

The child was taken to Covenant Health Hospital and then flown to a hospital in Lubbock, Texas. According to the sheriff’s office, the boy is in critical condition.

Investigators have interviewed potential witnesses, but no arrests have been made at this time.
