ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Crews deemed an apartment complex a total loss after it collapsed during a fire Tuesday morning in northeast Albuquerque.

Albuquerque Fire Rescue crews responded around 8:34 a.m. to the Wisconsin Apartments building, near Wisconsin and Chico, just northwest of Wyoming and Central.

Crews noticed a fire coming from the second floor and determined it fully involved the building.

Within 20 minutes, the structure reportedly collapsed. That sent smoke billowing into the sky, becoming visible in many places across the metro.

Thankfully, AFR says no one was injured and the building was abandoned before the fire.

Firefighters are still monitoring the smoldering piles of debris. Investigators are working to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
