APD: Car ran red light, caused fatal crash with stolen vehicle

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Police released new details Thursday morning regarding a crash at a busy intersection in northeast Albuquerque.

Albuquerque police responded to Carlisle and Menaul regarding a fatal crash early Thursday. After talking to witnesses, officers determined a Honda Civic ran a red light while traveling south on Carlisle and crashed into a Subaru Forester traveling west on Menaul.

Officers discovered a pistol inside the Subaru. The Subaru was also found to be stolen after running a check on it.

An unidentified passenger in the Subaru succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The Subaru driver and the Honda driver were each taken to the hospital. The Subaru driver is in critical condition while the Honda driver’s condition hasn’t been disclosed.
