ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — An Albuquerque Public Schools teacher is keeping a local tradition alive year after year.

“We were asked by the district to get an amazing group of young people together to sing our famous Albuquerque turkey song,” said Kristen Hutchinson, a music teacher at Sierra Vista Elementary Schools.

For decades, “Albuquerque Turkey” has been a big hit for elementary schools in the district.

Keeping the song going is not just about tradition, but also about how music is an important part of a child’s life.
