APD officers shoot, kill suspect in NE Albuquerque

There’s new information about a deadly police shooting in northeast Albuquerque Tuesday.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – There’s new information about a deadly police shooting in northeast Albuquerque Tuesday.

The shooting happened around 5 p.m. near Eubank and Candelaria. That’s where police leaders say they found what they believed to be a stolen vehicle.

APD says they arrested one suspect, but a second suspect – a woman – ran off.

Officers eventually found her hiding in a shed.

“Officers were in the process of giving commands to this individual, and at this time the individual appeared from inside the shed, and had a very deliberate motion toward the officers in a punching out motion as if they had a firearm. At least one officer discharged their firearm,” said APD Chief Harold Medina.

Police confirmed they did not find a gun with the suspect, only a cell phone.

Police say the woman was transported to the hospital, but later died.

No officers were hurt.
