ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A man is dead following a standoff with Albuquerque police officers Tuesday night.

Police said officers were called to the parking lot of the Target on Lomas near Eubank around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday. Reports had been made that someone was camping inside their car.

When officers tried to take the man into custody, he reportedly flashed a gun at them.

Police said officers retreated, and the man got back in his car.

According to APD, they heard a single gunshot fired from inside the vehicle, and at least one officer fired back.

Police believe the man died from a self-inflected gunshot. He reportedly had two felony warrants out of his arrest.
