APD officer charged for sexually assaulting airport security guard

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — An APD aviation officer was arrested Thursday. Johnny Garcia is accused of luring a security guard into a closet while he was on duty at the Albuquerque International Sunport and sexually assaulting her.

The security guard later reported what happened. According to the complaint, Garcia tried to contact other officers and coworkers of the victim to discredit and intimidate her during the investigation.

Garcia is now on unpaid leave. He was booked and released from jail.
