ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Women make up ~13.3% of the 660,000 U.S. law enforcement officers – and the Albuquerque Police Department wants to help buck that trend.

APD is hosting the “Women in Blue” event next Saturday, August 26. The free event is happening from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Albuquerque Police Academy.

Lunch will be provided, as well as childcare for those ages 3-15.

The event will give participants a chance to talk with female officers. They’ll also get to join the officers in group and physical fitness activities.

If you attend, you must register online. There, you can also find a full schedule and more.

In the video above, Danielle Todesco talked with two APD representatives about what more to expect.
