ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Albuquerque police have arrested a man who they say is connected to a shooting involving officers last week.

Pablo Abreu-Peña is sitting behind bars Sunday after he allegedly ran away from police carrying a gun last Thursday.

Officers say they first spotted Peña spray painting the wheel of a stolen car in southeast Albuquerque. He ran away when officers walked up to him.

Police say Peña showed his gun, and that’s when one officer fired several rounds at him. They said they still don’t know whether they shot him, but he got away.

On Saturday, police say they caught him on Grove Street and Trumbull – a few blocks east from where the shooting happened.

Peña is expected to be in court some time this week.

APD is investigating the shooting in this case.
