APD, UNM police partner up in campus safety operation

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – This weekend, Albuquerque and UNM police teamed up to tackle crime in the university area.

It ended with 15 felony arrests, nine misdemeanor arrests, one gun seized, and more than 400 fentanyl pills and nine grams of cocaine seized.

One of those arrests didn’t come easy. During the operation, police ended up in a foot chase with a suspect wanted on a felony drug charge.

The suspect, who identified himself as “J” said his leg was sick. But, after the officer went back into his patrol unit “J” took off running. 

His full name is Jdaniel Gonzales. He’s now in jail.
