HOBBS, N.M. – Hobbs police are still investigating the death of a baby that was found in a hospital bathroom last week. So far, there are no criminal charges.

Police say an autopsy is complete, but results from the Office of the Medical Investigator have not been finalized.

According to police, a final determination for the cause of death could take 90 days. That’s what they’re waiting on before recommending any criminal charges.

Officials say a 16-year-old girl was being treated in the hospital room where the baby was found at Covenant Health Hospital.

However, she was discharged and left with her mother before the baby’s body was found in the trash.
