Eddie Garcia: Monsoon storms expected in New Mexico, flood risk this weekend

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Moisture is ramping up Friday through the weekend as the 2022 North American Monsoon gets an early start, by a few weeks.
Chances for showers and storms will focus across western New Mexico through Saturday, then good chances will gradually spread east across the state from Sunday through Tuesday. The added cloud cover and rain-cooling will bring below normal daytime temperatures as well.
Burn scar flooding will become an increasing threat this weekend into early next week, along with the potential for flash flooding outside of burn scars from locally heavy rainfall.
