Flash flooding evacuation shelters, sandbag pick up locations

SANTA FE, N.M. — New Mexico residents who need to evacuate due to potential flash flooding may go to any one of three open shelter locations:

Taos County

Juan Gonzales Agricultural Center

202 Camisa Road

Taos, NM 87571

San Miguel County

Abe Montoya Recreation Center

1751 N. Grand Ave.

Las Vegas, NM 87701

Santa Fe County

Genoveva Chavez Community Center

3221 Rodeo Road

Santa Fe, NM 87507

If you, a loved one or a family member cannot physically evacuate on your own and need assistance for any reason, it is imperative you call the state’s Fire Resources Hotline at 800-432-2080 and register for accommodations. State officials say to not wait, call ASAP.


Residents who need sandbags to prepare for potential flooding can visit any one of six locations:

Sapello-Rociada Volunteer Fire Department

La Placita Volunteer Fire Department

San Geronimo Volunteer Fire Department

San Miguel County Public Works

Mora County

Mora County Solid Waste
