ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A jury convicted former APS teacher Danny Aldaz for molesting one of his students – a 7-year-old girl – in 2019.

KOB’s 4 Investigates team highlighted this case in 2022 after five students made the allegations.

Investigators say pictures of a closet in Aldaz’s classroom show Aldaz created the space by blocking off a hallway with a filing cabinet and a red blanket.

This conviction only covers one of the cases against Aldaz. He faces more than 50 years in prison for this conviction.

“I’m so proud of my Special Victims Unit, who prosecuted Aldaz. I look forward to this man spending a long time in prison,” said Bernalillo County District Attorney Sam Bregman.
