ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Work is getting started again on the new Winrock Town Center in Uptown Albuquerque.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the new park was held Wednesday in front of the Regal Cinemas. Renderings show the new Winrock Park will include a pond that will use reclaimed water.

Also up for construction will be a 7-story hotel with condos, an apartment complex, restaurants, retail, and even some healthcare offices.

“There will be cafés in the park, so you can come have brunch around the water. There’s an amphitheater with 750 seats, a stage that backs the water, and a place for evening events, concerts at the park, theater at night, even yoga on the grass during the mornings,” said Darin Sand with Goodman Realty.

The plans also call for a trolley that will do a circuit around the site. The park is expected to be complete in about 12 months.

More buildings will start construction in the fall.
