Hobbs police: Baby found dead in hospital bathroom

HOBBS, N.M. — Police officers were called to the Covenant Health Hobbs Hospital on Wednesday, Sept. 13, after hospital staff found a baby dead.
Police say a 16-year-old girl, accompanied by her mother, was being treated at the hospital. Later, the hospital staff found a baby dead in the restroom area of her hospital room.
Authorities are waiting for autopsy results from the Office of the Medical Investigator in Albuquerque.
A spokesman with the Hobbs Police Department says more details will be released to the public at a later time. The investigation is ongoing.
A hospital spokesperson only said that a tragic situation unfolded and they are cooperating with Hobbs police.
