Murder suspect arrested after SWAT standoff near Old Town

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – A murder suspect is in custody after an hours long SWAT situation near Old Town Albuquerque Tuesday.
Police arrested Robert Romero after he surrendered at a home near Rio Grande and Mountain. They say he killed a rival gang member back in 2018.
In fact, police arrested Romero the night of the murder for a different crime.
Later, they used jail phone calls and firearm testing to connect Romero to the killing.
